Custom Orders for Painted Coins

Yes, I can do custom orders for you, including painting a coin you already have.  At the current time, custom orders are limited to USA Shipping.

PAINTING A COIN YOU ALREADY HAVE & SEND TO ME:
Step 1:   Send a photo of your coin with the diameter of the coin.  For most coins that will be between 3/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch.  The photo is so I can see if there are any challenges with painting your coin before starting the project.  A photo with your cell phone is usually fine.  Email it to me at Ann@AnimalCoin.com  Most orders will be $50.00* including return shipping. I will give you a quote once I see the photo, as well as an estimate on how long the project will take. Multiple coins within the same order is a 10% discount.

Step 2:  I will set up a special listing in my Etsy Shop for you to prepay for the painting service.  I will email you a link to the listing. I will also provide you with my street address to mail me your coin.

Step 3:  Think about the primary and possibly secondary color you would like to request.  Keep in mind that there are some limitations and I will try to give you those with the quote.  I blend my own paints and only offer colors I have developed a recipe for.  Please look over the items in my Shop to examples and color ideas.  Click here to review coins.

PAINTING A COIN YOU SEE IN MY STORE IN A DIFFERENT COLOR
My normal process is to paint coins and offer them "ready to ship" in my store.  I can paint one for you, if I have adequate stock of unpainted coins, in a different color(s).  There is a $15 "Custom Fee" added to the cost of the item for this added service. There are a few limitations that will guide the process and color choices.
  • I blend my own paints, and have developed a recipe for each color.  Since this is a time consuming process, I only offer colors already developed.  See the listings in my Etsy Shop for examples of colors, and possible color combinations.
  • Some areas of each coin may not be appropriate for painting.  That is normally areas of high relief or "bumpy" texture.  The paint will tend to pool in the low areas and not look good.  So basically, I usually paint only the flat areas of the coin.  If you look at the photos, those areas are left unpainted and what you see is the actual metal of the coin.  I add a thick enamel topcoat over the painted coins, so when completed, the coin surface is smooth and flat.
  • I have been painting coins for 10 years, and have been an artist in other mediums for decades.  I reserve the right to decline a job if I think it won't work out or look good.  Of course, I am glad to coach you on the possibilities, and let you choose the outcome.  So far, this approach has always resulted in success!

I WANT SOMETHING SPECIAL & NEED YOUR HELP FINDING A COIN
What would make your heart smile?  I can research to see what coins might fit, and send you photos of the unpainted coins to consider and choose from. I charge a $30 per order research fee, which can include more than 1 coin.  I will provide a quote to paint each coin, and estimated time to complete the project.  You can decide from there.
I have been a coin collector and a member of a Coin Club for over 20 years, and have resources to find and purchase coins at reasonable prices.

Frequently Asked Questions-
How long will this take?
It depends on my current workload, but for most orders allow 1-2 weeks + shipping time. I will give you a timeline with my quote.

Do you do all the painting yourself?
Yes, I am a "one person" business and do all the coin buying and painting myself. I live in California, just north of San Francisco.  I only sell online these days with my Etsy Shop.

I am not sure what I want to do, can we discuss it in person?
I am available for phone calls, or Zoom video calls to assist you.  Please contact me at Ann@AnimalCoin.com to set up an appointment. The Zoom video call is best if you would like me to show you options, and I can send you a link for the call so that is is easy for new users.

What types of jewelry do you offer with painted coins?
Any coin that I have adequate stock of can be made into a pendant, pendant on filigree, money clip. pin, poker marker, or a collectible to display (comes with a small clear display easel).
