This was a fun project at doing something new for me. This time I made a hand braided kumihimo with seed beads as a cord to go with my pendant. The cord is a simple design with one color, and brings out the best in the coin. Kumihimo braiding is an ancient craft from Japan, and the cords were used to secure Samarai swords.
The coin from the Bahamas features two flamingos. The Flamingo is the state bird of the Bahamas and I particularly love this bold design on this big coin the size of a US silver dollar.
I made this set as a custom one-of-a-kind item, with placing it at the art gallery, Local Color in Bodega Bay, in mind.
Coin Jewelry Gallery & Stories
This blog is my chance to share the stories behind the coins I paint, and the artist experiences I have. To help find older posts, I have put the posts in Categories (below) by type of animal coin.
