Wine Country Gardens

Most people are aware of the beautiful place I happen to live... the Northern California Wine Region. I live in Sonoma County where there are nearly 500 wineries, with Napa County next door which is even more widely known. What a lot of people don't know about our both our counties is that we also have wonderful gardens.
When I moved here in 1986, I was told that "if you stick a plant in the ground, it will grow." That is pretty much true, unless you have my fatal flaw, which is to forget to water those same plants. Fortunately I have my husband who loves to garden, and drip irrigation to keep watering the plants even when I space out.
Even if I am not the best of gardeners, I absolutely love to visit gardens and enjoy their beauty. As a result of this, I have found some of the most interesting gardens in this area, and continue to discover more. That is not just my opinion by the way, since even Sunset Magazine and Martha Stewart know about the gardens here. Enjoy!

Deb and her amazing garden
Deb's Garden
In the year 2000, Deb and her family purchased a rural property near Santa Rosa. It was almost 3 acres, and came complete with a house with a cracked foundation and a "junkyard." Yes, it had many old rusting cars sitting on the property. With very little money, a lot of love and the help of some of their friends, the property has turned into a beautiful garden.... Luther Burbank Gardens
Luther Burbank Home & Gardens
I recently visited this little gem of a garden in Santa Rosa. With me was my 12 year old friend, Jasmin. I wasn't sure if a girl of this age would find this garden interesting or not. Well, to my surprise and delight, she loved the gardens. I loaned her a camera and didn't hear much from her for about an hour. She was having the time of her life!.. (Click here to read the article)
