A Little About me...
My unique coin jewelry comes from combining several of my passions. I was already creating and selling hand painted silk and wire-wrap jewelry. I also had been collecting coins with an animal theme for over 15 years, getting involved when my young son wanted to join the local coin club. Besides wanting to offer something unusual, I hated seeing the beautiful coins sitting in the drawer. I wanted to turn them into jewelry that could be worn and shared with others.
I began playing with jewelry ideas using coins, and after several months of playing "mad scientist" came up with the method I now use. I decided she wanted the beautiful look of enameling, but found out the hard way that coins turned black when heated.
So, I turned to hand painting in vivid colors, adding a thick coat of epoxy to protect the paint and give each piece the glossy look of glass. If then took months of practice to develop a steady enough hand to do the fine detail.
I live in the beautiful Northern California wine region with my husband, Chris, and our 4 small dogs and 1 cat. Chris is also a coin collector and often helps me at events and shows. I also work as an Accountant and am the Controller for a nonprofit that works with troubled teens.
You can find my unique jewelry at shows in the San Francisco and North Bay areas, as well as at my online store on this website. I also welcome custom orders.
